Processing

The Cerro San Pedro Mine is operated as an open pit mine. Run-of-mine ore is processed via heap leaching and the Merrill-Crowe recovery process to produce gold and silver doré.

Process facilities consist of a lined heap leach pad that lead to a conventional Merrill-Crowe gold and silver recovery circuit. Run-of Mine ore is stacked on the leach pad and a solution percolates through the ore leaching gold and silver from the rock to produce a “pregnant solution” which is then pumped to the Merrill-Crowe plant to produce gold-silver doré. Cerro San Pedro is expected to produce 95,000-105,000 ounces of gold and 1.4-1.6 million ounces of silver in 2010 at a total cash cost of US$390 to $410 per ounce.
